Thankful for 2012, thank God!

It’s nearly 12 o’clock and it’s time to display the 2013 calendar. Let me finish this year with a BIG THANK YOU to our GOOD GOD who’s been really faithful, loving and kind to me. I’m unworthy, lacking and imperfect. I made many mistakes this 2012 and I really had struggles with self-control, patience and gentleness. But I am really blessed for the conviction from the Holy Spirit so I could ask for forgiveness right away.

THANK YOU LORD for sticking with my family. Throughout the tough moments when we were adjusting from the absence of Tatay – You were there and still here. We witnessed Your miracles and how amazing You are.

And so this 2013, we still believe in miracles and that dreams do come true as long we have faith in You. You said that “with man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26). I remember my first resolution for 2012 and it’s about not putting You in a box for God is SOVEREIGN – the King of kings and Lord of lords! Of course, You did not fail me and will never ever fail me and I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13)

So once again, THANK YOU LORD for being patient with me. I am excited to witness more of your miracles, learn Your way and know Your will.

Teach me to care more and give love for others. Change my heart, teach me to seek Your kingdom first and let Your will be done. Amen.

How great is Your love / How great are Your ways / There's nothing we want more /
But to live for You God

Curly Listening 12.09.12 Jenny and Tyler

Just few weeks ago, I learned about this amazing and cute couple Jenny and Tyler Somers based in Nashville. I was busy looking for more songs by Mac Powell from Third Day band when I got to hear his song “Carry Me” with Jenny and Tyler for backing vocals. I got interested to Jenny’s voice and tried to hear a song from her with her husband, it was so easy to like them and I kept on clicking for more tracks to hear and enjoy.

Anyway Jenny & Tyler are Christian artists too and they write their own songs -- very uplifting and relaxing at the same time, grab your hot choco when you play these tracks “Faint Not” “This is just so beautiful” and “Little Balloon” which are my personal favorites. The couple is kinda like She & Him with indie impression then add the warmth of Leigh Nash and Mat Kearney’s voice... plus as they play live – they sound like Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova at Once movie.

see video here via Youtube and click photo for larger view
Hope to hear new songs from them – they are just so lovely together. By the way, some of their songs are available to download for free, visit them at

Lovestruck x OMF Lit Contest

OMF Literature is having an online contest in which you can win a free copy of Ronald Molmisa's Lovestruck Singles Edition book. All you have to do is to download and read the first chapter of the said book and make a typography/graphic illustration featuring your most favorite line from the book. (Like OMF at Facebook.)

I’ve read it and I’m joining the contest since I already enjoyed the initial contents. So here’s my entry and hope I could win =D

1st prize - Lovestruck (Part 1 and Singles edition) plus OMF Lit goodies <<- (exciting ito!)
Special prizes (3) - Pass or Fail (also by Ronald Molmisa) <<- (yey!)

then let's BEGIN again

Nobody has made too many mistakes. It's not too late for anybody to begin again.
If you want to be miserable, all you have to do is be selfish.

God is not nearly as interested in changing your circumstances
as He is in changing you.

Have you ever tried to make a speedy U-turn to avoid hardships and the arrival of a hurricane of changes? I did. And I thought at first that it’s His will because I prayed and thought hard about it. I found everything exciting! The feeling  of independence and courage made me believe that I won and still winning like it’s meant to be. But as time went by, things went wrong and I messed up. I realized that it was just my choice - not His.

There were the massive waves which came one after another - smashing every bit of my courage. I was in fear. I prayed and worried. I prayed and cried. I prayed and tried not to fail. I prayed and I failed. I prayed and stood up. I prayed and knocked down. I prayed and I stopped. I stopped praying. I ran away. I hurt people. I sabotaged my own self. Miserable. I sinned. I prayed and He answered. He always answer me but before - I couldn’t hear and I didn’t listen.

But by His grace, HE picked me up. He showed me the love that nobody could give. HE is in fact the lover of my soul. He forgave me. He is in control. And He’s still changing me, not my circumstances.

That’s what happened to me. And now I am here again in the desert of psalms and reflections. Battles keep on coming but I have Him. By the miracles He made and blessings He gave – I know I shouldn't be concerned. I’ll still be brave but not irrational anymore. He’s all I need. And again, He's at work and God's will is always good, acceptable and perfect.

Anyway, I want to share to you this song called "Feelin' so Fly" by TobyMac. His songs keep me motivated. He's a known Christian artist but he's hip and he writes out of the box music. Perfect to invite young people to listen to him about God's love and goodness.

[There ain't a day that goes by that I'm not singing Your praise
There ain't a day that goes by that I'm not completely amazed
A supernatural high / Your love is simply insane / You got me feeling so fly]

SAVED FESTIVAL 2012: Bands revealed; Tickets now available

Yes, following the announcement that SAVED FESTIVAL 2012 will happen on October 26, 2012 and more details were given via their Facebook page. The grand worship event is set to take place at the Mall of Asia Arena and will start at 7PM. This annual festival gathers people from all over the world to lift up the name of Jesus together with Filipino believers. New bands were named to lead the worship night.

There's Desperation band from New Life Church in Colorado that has recorded multiple albums with Integrity music, including “Who You Are”, the critically acclaimed “Everyone Overcome”, and the band’s first studio worship album “Light Up The World”, which was Jon Egan’s first shot at producing! In addition to Desperation Band albums, they have also been featured on three New Life Church recordings… 2006′s “My Savior Lives”, 2008’s “Counting on God”, and the most recent church album “You Hold It All.”

Then the Katinas - the family of five brothers hails from American Samoa, and moved to Washington, USA after the death of their mother in 1988.They put on a benefit concert called "Hope for Samoa" for the victims of the 2009 Samoa earthquake. And in October 2008, the Katinas performed at the Rock Church in San Diego, California in support of Proposition 8 and the banning of same-sex marriages in California.

And the Abandon, a Christian rock band from Texas. The group has five members: brothers Josh (lead vocals) and Justin Engler (guitar), cousins Stevan (guitar) and Dave Vela (drums), and Bryan Fowler (bass). They signed onto ForeFront Records in late 2007 and released the Abandon EP in July 2008. Their first single "Providence" was released to radios in August and has reached #7 on R&R's Christian rock charts. The group's name was inspired by the Bible verse of Joshua 22:3, which reads "God has directed us not to abandon any brothers".

Also joining Saved Festival 2012 are local bands Gloryfall from Manila that has conducted numerous worship seminars and evangelistic concerts throughout the Philippines and Paglaum worship team from Cebu.

This is promising and I know many are excited especially who were at the Saved Festival last year at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. I'm just a little sad that the venue was changed since SM Mall of Asia is too far from home. But I'm still interested and will pray for the success of this event. May the name of Jesus be lifted up and through this event, many will bring back all the glory to Him only.

Tickets are now available! The price range is still as good as last year's from PhP 250 to PhP 1,500. And you may purchase it online via SM tickets website or reserve your tickets via Becca Music Inc's website.

Like Saved Festival 2012's official Facebook page for more updates and I think they'll be having promos for free tickets soon.

Reserved Seating: VIP 1500 || Patron 1200 || Lowerbox 1000     Free Seating: Upperbox 500 || General Admission 250

BETTER FINDS: Stars and Kari Jobe

I've been listening to Kari Jobe (a Christian singer and songwriter) for weeks now and it’s really easy to fall in love with her voice and her album “Where I Find You”, released last January 2012. I learned about her through her Youtube video “We Are” in acoustic. I was caught by her simplicity and grace plus I could feel her sincerity in every word she sang to the Lord. Almost all of the album tracks were beautifully-written and one of my favorites is the song entitled “Stars”.

And here's something from Our Daily Bread talking about how mighty God is through His awesome creations.

Message From The Sky
September 18, 2007 — by Dave Branon

The heavens declare the glory of God. —Psalm 19:1

The earth’s population is now over 6.6 billion. And depending on where we live, finding moments of solitude where we can gaze at the silent night sky is increasingly difficult. Yet, according to the writer of Psalm 19, if we were able to steal away to a spot where the only sound was our heartbeat and the only sight the canopy of the stars, we could hear a message from those heavens.

In such a moment, we could hear with the ears of our innermost being the noiseless testimony of God’s breathtaking creation.

We could hear from the heavens as they “declare the glory of God” (v.1).And we could watch in amazement as the sky “shows His handiwork” (v.1).

We could listen as “day unto day utters speech” that fills our minds with the unmistakable awareness of God’s splendid creation (v.2).

We could marvel through the night as the firmament shows in unmistakable splendor the knowledge of God’s handiwork (vv.1-2).

Our Creator tells us to “be still, and know that I am God” (Ps. 46:10). A great way to do this is to spend time in His creation admiring His handiwork. Then we will certainly know that He is God!

The heavens reveal the power of God
 To everyone living on earth;
His handiwork speaks of His splendor and care,
And makes us consider His worth. —Sper

God speaks of His majesty through His creation.

Rainbow Sky

How great are your works, Lord,  how profound your thoughts!  (Psalm 92:5)

I am always amazed by the beauty of what’s up there: the magnificent shifting of sights and colors – from day to night. And if I were to choose my most loved creation by our Lord, I prefer the skies. And my bias is in fact obvious here in my blog for I had captured pictures of clouds, sunset and moon.

And just last Saturday (June 16) on our way back to Manila after attending a wedding of our relative in Lucban, Quezon, I was watching the giant clouds while the car’s moving when I noticed rainbow-like hues in the sky. I told my mother to take a look too and we both liked what we’re seeing. We felt so happy because it’s our first time to witness such stunning scenery.

And now I am sharing the photos with you. Enjoy!

Can’t remember kung nasa may Tiaong o San Pablo City na kami nito.

05.02.12 City on Fire

Look Left, Look Right

Once again, praying in the desert.....

Psalm 142:4-7 The Message (MSG)

"As I sink in despair, my spirit ebbing away, you know how I'm feeling, Know the danger I'm in, the traps hidden in my path.

Look right, look left— there's not a soul who cares what happens!

I'm up against it, with no exit— bereft, left alone.

I cry out, God, call out:

"You're my last chance, my only hope for life!'
Oh listen, please listen; I've never been this low.
Rescue me from those who are hunting me down; I'm no match for them.
Get me out of this dungeon so I can thank you in public.
Your people will form a circle around me and you'll bring me showers of blessing!"

February Paper Love

Making origami heart is a symptom that it's February already! ♥ 9 days to go ;)

Just follow instructions here on how to make paper hearts: ♥ 1 ♥ 2

1 Corinthians 13 (New International Version)

1 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

And since Heart's day is near, here's a music video by Yeng Constantino entitled Pag-ibig :)

When we pray to God about our future mate,
may we have this kind of prayer too —
that loving someone is about the other person
and less of ourselves.  #tlw

POEMATIC 01.23.12 Hadassah's Faith and Loyalty

In rel. to my previous entry: I am no Queen but God chose me to go and follow Him, I wrote a poem about the life of Queen Esther. I have no earthly riches like what she owned but I know that we have the same God who also use women for amazing things.

You were made beautiful inside and out
Your eyes sparkling and seeing the truth only
Offering a love so pure and deep for your King in Heaven
Though you had no parents to take care of you;
Glad that Mordecai and his love was around you
And so God’s delight was upon you too Hadassah
He laid down His wonderful plans before you
And you never knew it until you were chosen as Queen
Where gold and countless riches were around you
The finest fabrics of the world were clothed on you now dear Esther
But you never forget who you are and what God wants for His people
You stood faithful and prayerful still in times you were terrified
And the Lord did not allow you and your people to be killed by Haman
His wisdom, power, and authority prevailed
Boldness, courage and protection wrapped on you
Then with a banquet you prepared which was so inviting
You also set to spoil the meal of Haman’s dark plans in front of your beloved King
King Xerxes listened and the Lord’s design succeed
And so rapid the Persian King claimed Haman’s and his family’s lives
Hence, at this time you are still remembered as Queen Esther the heroine
A dependable girl with a dream was used to save the Jews by the Lord
You will never be forgotten, as the stars stay on their places
[words by Madz Madaje]

I am no Queen but God chose me to go and follow Him

After watching One Night with the King movie two weeks ago, I got really inspired by Esther’s life, though there were some added scenes which were not really written in the Bible. However, I already told about what she did to my Sunday school kids few years ago yet I did not realize how brave she really was then. But as I meditated with God’s word and her story – I learned that since God always choose random people to do His will and when the time comes He asks you to move and obey; we should let Him to use us for something wonderful even if we think it’s too risky or we won’t gain other people’s approval.

Wherever you are now could be used by the Lord for the expansion of His kingdom and He already had His plans for you which were always good, acceptable and perfect but it’s up to us if we’re going to believe that He won’t leave us nor forsake us. And that everything works together for good to those who love Him. And our labor in the Lord is not in vain so we should give to Him our all. No questions asked, just trust Him with all our hearts.

Photo 1: via IMDB Photo 2: via BIBLEBOOTCAMP Photo 3: via  PUB48

And here’s also a song by Mandisa called "Born for this", included in "(Music Inspired By) THE STORY", a Bible written like a story, with the video clips from One Night with the King movie.

Sometimes you gotta go, uninvited
Sometimes you gotta speak when you don't have the floor
Sometimes you gotta move, when everybody else says you should stay
No way, no, not today
You gotta ask, if you want an answer
Sometimes you gotta stand apart from the crowd
Long before your heart could run the risk
You were born for this

And to add up, we need the Bible to fight the good fight of faith. The word of God should be our daily bread so we would have strength and wisdom from Him only. We shouldn’t rely on our own abilities ever , for the Lord also says in  John 15:5, "Apart from me, you can do nothing " .

And on Proverbs 3:5-6"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight".

To some - the Bible is just a book full of unexciting text, but this gives me power, hope, love, faith and life. This is the word of God and here we find how great He is and how He loves us unconditionally...

and so iread, ibreathe, ilive GOD's WORD and ibelieve you should too
