Story of Faith: My God is Sovereign

On my journey of faith, I learned to:

Trust the God is capable of doing something new but we have to leave something, someone so we can proceed to next chapter. Ito yung moving on.

We can’t hold on to everything with two hands and still grab another thing. 2 lang kamay natin. Di rin tayo pwedeng palingon-lingon. Always fix our eyes on Jesus.

My Best of 2014

Encouraging Bible Verses

Quotes with high impact in my life

Books worth to read

Positive Music

Events with awesome experiences

Great people I've met

News that shake the world but not our faith

Opportunities that were opened

Photos I took that really made me happy about life

These are all to thank for... all glory to God for everything I had and have, experienced and will see.. I'm just overwhelmed by everything He gave to me. I'm truly not deserving but His cup just overflows. Thank You Lord Jesus.

A great and blessed 2015 to all! May Jesus be forever lifted up in our lives!

Dear Mr. Storyteller

November 18, 2014

Dear Mr. Storyteller,

It’s been three years since the last time I heard about your stories but I can still remember bits of them. Your own way of speaking your wild mind was just so genuine that sometimes we, your listeners, were fooled of your made-up plots. You’d always just leave a smirk on your face signaling your success on tricking us again.  But you were charming not to be loved and by this you became an entertainment legend to everyone.

I also admire your memory about many things of the past and your overflowing generosity to share your knowledge with us. You’re like a walking newspaper, an Encyclopedia, a radio announcer, sportscaster, a TV host and a comic strip to me.

You’re so full of wisdom and humor but never rude, though you were scary when you’re mad... really.

Your daughter became a storyteller as well… and forever will be. I am grateful to God for giving me this talent of yours. Storytelling was our favorite pastime together and you usually put me on your lap when I was little. At this very moment, I recall your laugh and my giggles, your grin and my frowning face, your bright eyes and mine.

I miss you Mr. Storyteller.

It was just last night when I realized where my passion for storytelling came from. As usual, I love to discuss my thoughts about current events, folklore, history, faith and many more things to people. I always find myself excited to share what I've just learned from random sources. I even competed with others back at school, remember?

Three years had gone but your stories live on. Some people see you in me – a storyteller.

I believe you’re having more enjoyable things to do and stories to tell there with our Lord. All your questions about life would be answered and sickness does not bother you anymore. You can also now sing your heart out to bring praise and worship unto the King of kings.

Someday, we’ll share our stories together again. I’m excited to hear your new adventures. But for now, I will continue walk on earth and share the greatest story of all, how our Savior Jesus redeemed us all and His promise to give us eternal life to be with Him forever.

I love you Mister.

Yours,

The Curly Storyteller

Simpleng Kabataan

Sa kahoy na dingding aking sinulat at ginuhit
Larawan ng mga pangarap na nais makamit;
Tanaw ko ang tumatakbong ulap sa kalangitan,
Nagdadala ng kapayapaan sa aking kalooban.

Taho ni Mang Bobby, sorbetes ni Mang Isko
Sigaw at kalembang nila'y alam na alam ko;

Asaran, taguan, awitan kasama ng mga kaibigan;

BETTER FINDS: Blythe Dolls

Found this pretty doll called Blythe through Pinterest. These dolls are just so adorable! Hope to know where to find them here in Manila.

Blythe is very popular from her high fashion sense, which makes her become a presenter or model for many magazines or advertising. Women from all around the world love Blythe because Blythe fashion always reflects the fashion trend at the moment. There are 3 types of Blythe doll Neo, Petite, and Middie. Neo Blythe is 28.5cm tall, Petite Blythe is 11cm tall and Middie Blythe is 20cm tall.

Orignally manufactured by Kenner in 1972, the original Blythe (now known as “vintage”) was produced for only one year and then was retired because of poor sales.

30 years later, in 1999, Junko Wong, President and CEO of CWC saw Blythe snapshots at the CWC New York office opening party. She fell in love with Blythe and knew she would be an instant sensation in Japan. Then, in late 2000, Blythe made her comeback in Japan when CWC produced a charming TV commercial for Parco department store starring Blythe. After the TV spotlight she became an overnight sensation in Japan and Asia. Thus Neo Blythe was reborn, no longer as a child’s toy but as a fashion doll appealing to adult doll collectors.

When you pull the string at the back of her head, her eye colors and eye direction will change and this changes her face expression totally. When her eye color and direction change, she looks almost like a different doll.

There's even a guide book in Japanese about this super fashionable doll, perfect for collector:  Blythe Collection Guide Book (3,150 JPY, published by CWC Books and sold by Graphic-Sha Ltd.) released in January 2012.

[POSTPONED] Living in the Wonder, Tommy Walker Live in Manila Concert

BAMA Events Production just announced the postponement of Tommy Walker's benefit concert, "Living in the Wonder", which was first scheduled on November 11, 2014 at SM MOA Arena.

This is sad news but the event will be rescheduled to a better date and hopefully on a weekend night next year. Checkout the full announcement via the event's official FB page (click here).

While we wait for the event to happen, we can listen to Tommy Walker's music online. Well here's his latest upload, "I Love the Lord" lyric video at Youtube. I believe this is inspired by Psalm 116:1 "I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; He heard my cry for mercy. Because He turned his ear to me, I will call on Him as long as I live".

A blessed weekend everyone!

More about Living in the Wonder, Tommy Walker Live in Manila Concert

Wow! It’s already November and before I get overexcited for Christmas season, let me count the days before the upcoming Worship Concert with Tommy Walker, Live in Manila “Living in the Wonder.” Only 9 days left!!!

Isn't it wonderful to know there'll be more Christian worship bands to guest on November 11, 2014 (Tuesday) at SM MOA Arena, 7PM and hey, there’ll be conferences beforehand.

Along with Gloryfall, Musikatha and Rename Band which I already introduced on my previous blog post (link here)Gospel Collective will be there to offer song of praises with us to our King of kings and Lord of lords, Jesus Christ since this is also their main goal.

Did you know that this is not just a band but a group of Christian musicians from different denominations and churches who come united as one before the Audience of One? Now that’s kind of redundant, hehe! Of course, they’ll have some differences in denominational doctrine, church culture and preferences, Gospel Collective knows that all believers and followers of Jesus Christ can and should come together to worship at the foot of the Cross of Christ, without the need for church colors and denominational distinctive. Their sound is a combination of Gospel, Jazz, Rock and almost everything in between… collective talaga! so if you’re not familiar with them and how this fresh mix would sound, go and hear their songs through and listen to them live at the Living in the Wonder Concert. Like their FB page here.

And to complete the list of amazing guests for Living in the Wonder benefit concert, Victory Worship is also joining the Pinoy pride with their new set of songs. Just September this 2014, this group of passionate worshipers from Victory Church launched their first live worship album called "Radical Love". I watched them live at the Saved Festival 2014 and I was really blessed for their music – blazing with anointing and power especially Cathy Go (check my post about them here).

The whole team is committed to making music that honors God and makes disciples, passionate about creating songs that inspire people to know and follow God. By the way, their album is also available for purchase on iTunes and their songs can be listened via SoundcloudLike Victory Worship at Facebook.

Just make an improvement

Go, get your freedom my dear friend
Or should I say, I am going now and I am getting my freedom back
You must know that your selfishness is too much to take
Giving words that encourage are not effective anymore
Your tongue hurts us so much you won't care at all
But then here we are catching you again and again
Sad but true - you are a nightmare sometimes
Misery and darkness inside of you affect us somehow
Our friendship chain has been a little rusty ever since
But I hope in the future, you'll have a change of heart
Please don't wait for the day - everyone on your list will be gone
You don't need to be perfect, just make an improvement

Inspired by a post from RightNow.ph, "A Painful Jump", about a person who writes a letter to a friend who keeps on jumping off that awful bridge again and again... but this time, the writer grows tired and decides not to catch her/him next time. I can relate so much for I have someone as toxic as in the said post. I won't give more details for I already wrote my feelings above.

Once in my life, I also became this person. I was not even aware of my own gloominess until the day a friend had rebuked me. I was really thankful for that confrontation but of course, her words hurt me at first. But when I was doing a self-check - I realized that she's right and I had to do something to improve myself and outlook in my circumstances. It was not easy but worth it.

Be the person you'd like to meet and cherish forever.
Nobody wants to keep a toxic treasure so let's all try to be better.

Tuesday Choices: Kind Words

It's Tuesday and I remember to choose "kind words".

Yesterday, Our Daily Bread posted "A War of Words" about being careful with what's coming out of our mouth. ODB reminded us that a small comment can start a large fight. When we, by God’s grace, choose not to retaliate with our words, we honor Jesus our Savior.

A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
—Proverbs 15:1

How many hateful words have you uttered lately, intentionally or not? and how many people have you hurt by just speaking what's on your mind and not being concern with their feelings first?

Yes, we need to be honest and live with integrity. But I believe that the Lord gives us self-control and wisdom so we can manage our emotions before we speak or act.  Before, I was blinded by my  my own selfishness a lot of times... focusing with the pain, anger, frustration and other negative emotions I was having thus the lesser I cared for others' feelings. Therefore I hurt so many people with my words and brought shame to myself. I've learned the hard way, I was too young then. But thanks God for He is always ready to pour out His grace, there's always a new chance for us to correct the situation or at least ask for forgiveness from anyone.

So let's choose to speak life. We can be truthful while being cautious with how God's want us to deliver the words at the same time. I believe this.

Meanwhile...

I started reading Rei Lemuel Crizaldo's Boring Ba Ang Bible Mo? book last weekend and I'm enjoying every page of it. Here's a quote about Epic Failures in the Bible yet covered and redeemed with God's amazing grace. Hope to finish the book this week :D You may grab a copy of this book at OMF Literature bookshops for PhP75 only.

"Peksman, mamatay man ako, hindi ko kilala yang Jesus na yan." Deny to death. And with that, kinain niyang lahat ng sinabi niya at ang buo niyang pagkatao na nag-uumapaw sa kayabangan. Isa siyang malaki at ganap na "drowing".
(Mababasa ang buong kwento sa Matthew 26:26-35,69-74)

Sa kaso ni (Simon) Peter, bagamat isa siyang epic fail, Jesus offered him a second chance. He may have run away, but Jesus ran after him and trusted him once more.
Simula noon, Peter was never the same.
Basahin ang John 21:15-19 at tuklasing how ‪‎failures‬ are never final.

That's it, a blessed Tuesday everyone! Be kind!

Living in the Wonder, Tommy Walker Live in Manila Concert

Good news! there will be more Pinoy Worship bands to perform at the "Living in the Wonder", Tommy Walker Live in Manila Concert which is going to happen on November 11, 2014 (Tuesday) at SM MOA Arena, 7PM. I actually mentioned about this upcoming concert in my previous post, click here. This is really exciting! Some of Bro. Walker's songs were also recorded by famous worship leaders like Don Moen, Israel Houghton, Paul Baloche and Ron Kenolly. The ticket prices range from PhP 280 (Gen Ad) up to PhP 4290 (SVIP) and are available via SM Tickets

Hope we can support this event for this comes with the advocacies of helping the Typhoon Yolanda survivors and to help support the continuous education of less fortunate out of school youths through Breakthrough Christian Academy in Manila where he is also the founder and educator. Behind this project is BAMA Events Production management (BEP) - its focus is in our "audience of One" - Jesus Christ. This is their first major event to organize and soon they will bring to the Philippines more various Christian bands, singers, speakers, artists, and others in making a worldwide impact for Christ.

Aside from Papuri Singers, Faith Music Manila and Malayang Pilipino, which Pinoy worship band do you usually listen to?

Kindly message me if there are mistakes with the setlist, thanks!

My second time to hear Francis Chan but the first time was via radio I think. I'm amazed for His boldness. From the way he speaks - I believe he does not compromise his faith and the truth (Word of God) to win other's favor. I'll write about his message later.

lights pa more!!! ^_^

Pink Helmet

THROWBACK.  It was definitely this day, 10th of October… 8 years ago. Your pink helmet was the last thing I saw before I woke up in the middle of the road – my first accident. I was in my fourth year in college, first semester and it was our finals week. I decided I'd ride the train that night so I'd go home quick.

The traffic light went red, the jeepneys stopped and I crossed the pedestrian but in few seconds, I saw a flash of your headlight and there I told myself… “He's too fast. No, he's not slowing down… he’s going to kill me”.

Everything went black and I woke up.

Blood Moon tonight

Yey for tonight! May His will be done.

May powers ka to be #SuperEpic!

'If you know your SuperEpic purpose, it would be easier to sacrifice and give it your best shot sa practice and training.

Discounted books at PCBS bookstore

Hello book lovers!

Good news! More affordable Christian books on sale!!!

Though I'm not sure if all PCBS (Philippine Christian Bookstore)  branches offer discounted books at the moment but their store at Farmers Plaza Mall sure does starting today, October 1 until October 15. Sayang, unavailable pa rin ang Lovestruck Sakit Edition book pati He Can Catch You When You Fall ni Miriam Quiambao. But I'm really happy to find Pastor Ed Lapiz' books on sale, parang halos lahat naging PhP100 -- sulit! I bought his "Bago Tumalon..." book, Grace Gaston-Dousel's "True Love Weds" also for PhP100 and a couple of children's books with cute illustrations: "Stories Jesus Told" and "Noah's Ark".

[We should not deceive ourselves into thinking that we are strong enough. At that moment when we least expect it, we may just be caught unaware and fall. "Don't be naive and self-confident. You're not exempt. You could fall flat on your face as easily as anyone else. Forget about self-confidence; it's useless. Cultivate God-confidence. No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; He'll never let you be pushed past your limit, He'll always be there to help you come through it." (1 Corinthians 10:12-13 (MSG) ~True Love Weds on temptations/Walking on a tightrope.

While Bago ka Tumalon book features the following interesting topics:
- 10 Questions to ask before committing suicide
- An anatomy of sorrow
- A closer look at depression
- When alone and lonely
- When down and out
- How to climb out of the pit
- How to maximize happiness

Go visit and find more books at PCBS Farmers Plaza store.  Heyho to all friendly staffs! ^_^

Ayan... nakabawi rin to purchase some books kahit di ako nakapunta sa MIBF this last month. I have this bad habit kasi na kapag halfway na ko sa book - I get bored ako and then I switch to another book, eeer! I know, I know... this should not happen again. >_< #projectimprovementforbettercurly soooon!

Anyway, adding up to my Wednesday happiness... my McDonald's hot fudge sundae overload =P umaapaw o!

KTnxBye Mario and Hello to OMF Lit bookshop, happy to visit again

Okay, I failed to visit MIBF 2014 (Manila International Book Fair) at the SM Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City last September 17-21. Though my initial plan was to go there on a Saturday afternoon to meet and greet some of the OMF authors but due to tropical storm Mario, our home in Marikina City ungratefully welcomed at least four feet of flood water inside but still praise God, it's lower than we had during Ondoy or Habagat season. Again, my mother and I were just stuck at the second floor that Friday. Thanks God we're safe and special thanks to everyone who prayed for us. Then we did major cleanup during the weekend.

Marikina under state of calamity.

But there's still good news for me, OMF Literature bookshop extended granting discounts for new released and republished OMF titles from September 23 up to 30, 2014. And so last Tuesday night, I visited their branch at Il Terazzo, Timog and bought some books with 30% discount. Anyway, the new Lovestruck book Sakit Edition (with violet cover) of Pastor Ronald Molmisa is not available at the bookstore yet. I'm excited to have a copy of it, feeling ko makaka-relate ako ng sobra haha! But for the mean time, let's enjoy the sample chapter (available for download via OMF Lit), click here for the link. And of course, marami na naman tayong mababasang #hugotquotestokeepinmind mula sa Lovestruck book like...
"Lahat ng nag-endo kailangang maayos na maisara. After that, move on na!"
"Don’t forget the golden rule: iwas asa, para iwas nganga."

Light Network Bloggers Meet-up

Yey! At last, I got to attend a couple of bloggers meet-up! Yesss.... "blogger"! Haha! After some years after I wrote my first blog post until many visited my page from time to time until this week, I can finally say that I'm really glad I decided to write my curly thoughts. And I really want to give all the credit to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who is still walking with me in this journey. I'm blessed to meet awesome bloggers in person! We had so little time to share about ourselves and our blogs yet we had fun, got inspired and felt "connected".

And so this is the Part 1 of my story, all glory to God!

On September 10, 2014 I met with Light Network staffs Ms Ella and Sir Next, Tommy Walker's Live in Manila 2014 organizer Sir Bong, and my new found blogger friends Aira of amaeguerrero@wordpress and Joseph of transformedtobetransformer@tumblr. According to the email, we're invited to join an intimate gathering of Christian volunteer bloggers in Ortigas and when I arrived at the coffee shop, we're only few in numbers yet when the intentions, visions and personal testimonies were told... just amazing!

from L-R: Bro. Next, Bro. Joseph, Sis. Aira, Me, Sis. Ella, Bro. Bong

I Am A Christian Blogger

"We buy into what others say about us, or we put restrictions on ourselves. What's worse is that when you consider yourself unworthy, you are putting limits on how God can work through you!

When you give up on your dreams, you put God in a box. After all, you are His creation. He made you for a purpose. Therefore your life cannot be limited any more than God's love can be contained.  I have a choice. You have a choice."

In my previous post, you just read about "God's box of surprises for me"..and I'll try hard to describe what my Maker is doing in my life right now.. I remember my prayer since February 1... "Lord, surprise me. Let Your will be done. Let Your purpose prevail." then last July 21 I added... "Almighty God, do as you promised."

Upon waiting for God to reveal His plans for me, just last weekend I received a couple of letters for me.. Surprise! I got invites [as a blogger... as a CHRISTIAN blogger]!!! Wow! Blogger pala talaga ako at may naliligaw pa pala dito harhar!

And then I prayed for it... should I confirm my attendance or not? I did my devotions and even asked for little go signs like getting permission to leave early at work. And the peace and joy of the Lord came to me. Truly, everything works together for good to those who love God according to His purpose.

And so I went to the first meeting at Ortigas with new blogger friends Joseph and Aira, sir Bong and Light Network officers Bro Next and Sis Ella. And I felt really blessed to hear their exciting news and testimonies. I'll talk about these on my next post, very exciting!

Meanwhile, on my way home from the meeting, the Lord reminded me that my influence as a Christian blogger is not pea-size actually but rather larger than life since the online blog is on the worldwide web.. maybe I got few visitors everyday but I do not know how many I am reaching with and how my random posts affect their lives... and because I blog about something ... it's now not limited inside of me but exposed to many who use the internet. My blog, my words, my faith and my influence are now outside the box. Okay, this is serious, I thought for a moment. ...with greater power comes greater responsibility.. familiar e? very true!

Clay Art in Process

So there was the girl in her curly locks and she actually thought of closing her blog down.. she was losing her vibe lately and could not find any word to write.. but no, His Potter had another plan in mind.. He is still at work with His clay, He is holding her carefully.

Then the girl who always prays to get better is now with a box of surprises...yes, very unexpected plans by Him is now an art to her sight. She feels excited and starstrucked at the same time.

How great Thou art plays in her crazy mind. Only a God Like You is the music of her heart. Would you mind checkout these songs?

RANDOM FINDS: Positively good apps

Hello there! I'd like to share some Android applications I enjoy the most everyday. Hope you'll love these too! 1,2,3.. go!

First, is the +Positively Pinoy app and website by UCB Media Philippines, featuring the Edge Radio and Word4u Today. I actually already mentioned about +Positively Pinoy, remember my Passion Manila 2014 concert experience? Yes, this ministry gave away some free tickets then and I won by downloading their app and by answering why I'd like to go to Passion Manila.

I listen to Edge Radio since some years through a local FM radio station but the program was gone for reasons I don't know, I think it was the funding support plus it was not as popular as the other entertainment programs, hmm? Anyway, since I learned about its comeback I listen to the Edge everyday at work through their website then I use the mobile app at home. The staffs communicate through their Chatbox and here you can request some Christian Contemporary Music. You may request for 5 songs at most daily. I remember the first time I heard Aries Sales' Nyebe via 702 DZAS My Inspirations Unlimited radio show and I immediately requested it at +Positively Pinoy and as fast as they could, they have Nyebe na! And now it's one of the most played OPM song there, go check it out and find more Christian OPM songs. I also requested for forKingandCountry's Fix My Eyes song before and they're very thoughtful to grant my request. Thanks so much the Edge, you're very kind and I really love you!

I really recommend this app for you to try especially if you really love Christian music and want to have a positive day. There are different segments on the Edge Radio like Focus on the Family, exhortations by Nick Vujicic, Max Lucado, Billy Graham and more. Plus, you can be a member of the the Edge Music Crew here, you can vote for monthly top songs and exclusive “first-listen” opportunities with new music. Cool, di ba?

Second, the Bible app by LifeChurch.tv. Here you may read and follow devotional plans by several Christian ministries; I’ve read some by Passion, Hillsong, Joyce Meyer and Max Lucado. Find lots of Bible versions and some are also available for download. Highlight and bookmark your favorite Bible verses and share them on social media as well. Of course, I still prefer my Bible in hardcopy but having it on my mobile is useful too! I just can’t use the search menu when I’m offline huhuhu. But overall, this is a good app.

Third is the ODB appOur Daily Bread by RBC Ministries. I have my 2014 devotional book but I also like to read ODB online.  At least now I do not need to connect on the internet just to see their posts. Once you access a specific month, it’s automatically saved on your mobile. Actually, some of the quotes I put on Textcutie app were from ODB. And now, ODB has an additional feature – the Insights, here they discuss some Bible History/Hermeneutics to have in-depth study of the daily devotion, very helpful indeed!

Lastly, the Textcutie app (Instagram Text Maker) – an Android application that makes every quote, word and Bible verse that I’d like to share online very easy to create and design through its user-friendly menus and cute themes. I've actually made a lot of word art already, some you’ll see in my previous post.

But I'm not sure if this app is still available via Google Playstore but I still super love it anyway ^_^

Anyway, here is a batch of Textcutie images I made before, I also pinned some quotes here. So get ready for a load of inspiration!!!

We make our choices everyday: let’s live and stay positive everyday!

God is ever-present and I believe that these apps are made to bless more people and spread not just positivity but God’s Word and unfailing love. Let’s support such ministries. God bless!
